The Kingdom Brass Youth Initiative was proposed early in 2007.
Discussions and planning took place in the six months following that initial proposal, looking at the best
way to structure, organise, and allow for the growth of the new organisation.
The newly formed committee came up with an initial 5 year development plan.
Year one of the KBYI will run from October 2007
to February 2009 and be in three phases :-
1. Start - Initial consultation with schools and parents to generate
interest in the proposal. Gauging interest in the project and planning what instrumentation and commitment of time
is needed.
2. Source - Introducing young people to the instruments through small
workshops. Organising regular tuition within small groups and resolving any startup problems.
3. Stabilise - Regular meetings of the association committee to ensure
everything is running smoothly. Organising initial concert performances, and preparing for year two.
Formation of the Development Band will take place in year one, introducing all the players to the concept
of performing in larger groups.
The Development Band will progress into the full Youth Band, continuing to participate as much as possible in the
various youth events throughout Scotland. The second year intake will progress into the Development Band. |
