Graeme was brought up in a musical family stretching back generations, and began playing piano at age 5. He then heard about brass lessons at school and started playing horn at age 8. By the time he was 9, Graeme joined Kinneil Junior Band, receiving lessons from Robert McCormack, and shortly after this moved onto trombone. Playing with the Bo'ness Academy School Band, Graeme had opportunities to perform in France and Spain. By the time he was 15, he joined the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland on bass trombone, and took part in the NYBBS tour of Bavaria. He also appeared with various other ensembles, including the Royal British Legion Big Band, with whom Graeme toured Switzerland when he was only 17, including a performance at the world famous Montreux Jazz Festival. In 2007 Graeme joined Kingdom Brass on 2nd trombone, with the Spring Festival Contest in Blackpool his first competition with the band. Shortly after his appointment with Kingdom Brass, Graeme became principal trombone of the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland. Much in demand for various orchestral, musical and panto work, Graeme definitely enjoys all the opportunities his music brings him, and the chance to perform in many prestigious venues all over Europe.
